Revamped!

I decided to revamp the blog, so please if there are any broken links or any problems with the new look, let me know so that I can fix it!

The header is part of a picture taken by Joe in Poland. I love the original picture and am quite pleased with how it turned out for my purposes as well. [See original picture here, along with other pictures he has taken if you're interested.] Personally, I think he's a fantastic photographer and am secretly hoping that one day soon I will be able to grace this blog with beauiful photographs of my knitting as well, thanks to him.

I finished the Midwest Moonlight ahile ago and finally got around to photographing it. [As always, click images to enlarge.]

Project Details:

Name: Midwest Moonlight from Scarfstyle
Yarn: Sundara Yarn, Sport weight merino, colorway chalky
Needles: Brittany Art Deco size US #6
Notes: This is the second time that I knit this scarf and I love the final result just as much as I did originally. it's a very simple lace pattern, it's interesting enough to keep your mind from going numb, but not too complex to knit while watching TV or a movie.

I also started the Icarus Shawl using the Misti Alpaca I originally bought for the Wing of the Moth shawl. I still have every intention of knitting the Wing of the Moth Shawl, this yarn just wasn't right for the pattern.

And now I leave you with pictures of Peaches waking up this morning. Don't mind the awful quality of them. I used my camera phone.

Coming soon: Mini vacation and a reunion!

Next Wednesday, my family and I will be heading down to Parris Island, South Carolina to see my brother Dave graduate from bootcamp. It seems like it was just yesterday that he left for the Marines.

In preperation for my trip, I bought 3 skeins of Noro Silk Garden in Colorway 221, which will be my car knitting. I'm planning a simple, no brainer feather and fan scarf.

I've also decided on a shawl for Joe's and my December date of dinner and then Phantom of the Opera. I fell in love with the Wing of the Moth Shawl, and have decided to start it in Misti Alpaca's Lace. I choose black for the shawl so that it compliments my dress.

I'm excited about starting this one tonight!

I've been a bad, bad blogger...

My apologies for not posting recently. I didn't even realize how much time flew by since my last post. Things have been pretty hetic here, in a good way though. My knitting time has severly suffered so I'm putting myself back on a schedule. I'm starting to get antsy not being able to really sit still and knit.

Things on the romantic front are going great. Joe, well he's simply amazing. I'm still a little shocked that I'm dating him, I just never thought it would happen and I never imagined that it would be this great if it did. I think it's going to take some time before the shock wears off for both of us.

As far as knitting goes, I did manage to finish up two projects. One of them being a scarf for the funky scarf swap, and the other being Midwest Moonlight with hand dyed yarn. I'll post pics this week.

I also decided to cast on for The Forest Path Stole. I haven't quite gotten to the lace yet, I'm still knitting the bottom triangles, but so far it's easier than I thought it would be. I don't think I'm going to have a problem with it at all.

I also decided I need to knit a black lace shawl. Any suggestions on patterns or yarns would be greatly appreciated. The Saturday before Christmas, Joe and I will be seeing Phantom of the Opera. I want something lacey and pretty to wear over my dress, but I also want it to be functional and warm. So far I'm considering either silky wool or misti alpaca. If anyone's used either of these, please leave me a comment and let me know about their warmth factor. Thank you!

Also in happier, but more current news. Battlestar Galactica Season 2.5 comes out on DVD tomorrow. I'm am so excited, I ended up ordering it from Amazon instead of waiting for Netflix. I can't wait to see what happens!

Proof there has been knitting!

I've been knitting up a storm in my spare time, which happily seems to be dwindling as I've been seeing quite a bit of Joe lately. It's still all so surreal, I've known him for years and am still quite shocked at the fact that now we're here and that it's better than I ever imagined it to be! I even knit a few things for him. I couldn't help it, he's so amazingly supportive when it comes to my knitting and is constantly telling me how proud I should be that I designed a scarf that people actually like!

Since he's a sci fi geek as well (although he prefers Star Trek to my personal favorite... Battlestar Galactica), I made him two dishrags:

Project Details:
On the left: Alien Washcloth, On the right: Trekkie Washcloth
Yarn: Both used Lily's Sugar n' Cream.
Needles: Brittany Art Deco US #6
Notes: Two very easy patterns to follow, both very quick knits. It took me all of a weekend to complete both of them, and that included knitting on another project and having a social life!

I also completed another Irish Hiking Scarf:

Project Details:
Pattern: Hello Yarn's Irish Hiking Scarf
Yarn: Cascade 220, 2 hanks
Needles: Brittany Art Deco US #6
Modifications/Notes: I decided since I Have knit this scarf so many times already to switch it up and twist the cables the other way to make it a little more interesting. I also used this project to learn how to cable without a needle, something that will come in handy for a heavily cabled project I have in mind for this fall. If you haven't tried this technique yet, I highly recommend it. It's easy and I personally think it makes knitting so much faster when you don't have to stop and search for your cable needle.

Next up, Lauren and I have both finally finished up our Multidirectional Scarves. They've been finished for a while, just needed the ends woven in.

Project Notes:
Pattern: Multidirectional Scarf
Yarn: Mine is the pink one, Noro Silk Garden in Colorway 205 if I remember correctly. Lauren's is also Noro Silk Garden however, I have no idea what colorway she used.
Needles: Clover Bamboo size US #9
Notes: This scarf is still one of my personal favorites to knit using Noro Yarns. The pattern just lends itself so easily to the way they stripe. It's also an extremely quick knit!

Currently on the needles I have the Midwest Moonlight Scarf from Scarfstyle. I'll get a better picture when it's all finished. It's been so rainy and dark lately, it's hard to get a picture of the true color.

As I mentioned before, I received my reveal package from my secret pal, Tracey of Extreme Adventures in Knitting and Motherhood. This round was extremely enjoyable, and my reveal package, just amazing!

Pictured are a washcloth she knit for me, along with a bath bomb inside! A really cute block of post its, some really neat sequin type things, some candy, a face mask and a cute knitting/crochet book which fits perfectly in my knitting bag! She also sent me some stitch markers which are currently in use, and some nivea moisturizer which I am in love with!

And of course, there was yarn!

Three skeins of Noro, which I'm already dreaming up projects for, and purple and red wool I plan on using for felting!

Thank you again Tracey, you were an amazing pal!
